William Leo Trail, 68, of Eau Claire, died early Sunday morning, February 5, 2017, at his home.
Funeral services will be at noon on Thursday, February 9, at Bright Star Tabernacle in Eau Claire, with Pastor Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Caldwell Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, at Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire, and leave online messages at www.bowermanfuneral.com. Memorial donations may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service or Hospice at Home.
Bill was born May 18, 1948, in Benton Harbor, the son of William Oscar and Helen (Zech) Trail. He had been a truck driver and equipment operator for Rieth-Riley Construction Company. He also loved farming, particularly cutting and bailing hay with his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to farm auctions, and he cared for his dogs and other animals. His special enjoyment was time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Miller) Trail; his mother, Helen Trail; two sons, Greg (Kristin) Trail and Bill (Pamela) Trail; two daughters, Dina (Larry) Layman and Charity (Jeff) Hackett; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dick (Kathy) Trail and Henry Trail; and a sister, Vickie (Bob) Storick.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two sisters, Shirley (Gene) Sapp and Ruth Ann (Jim) Modro.
