Ruea Anna Elizabeth Williams

July 17, 1932 — December 18, 2024

Bridgman

Ruea Williams, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 18, 2024, in Bridgman, Michigan. Born on July 17, 1932, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Leon and Susan Rosebud (Cutting) Covey, Ruea's life was a testament to the power of gentle strength and unwavering commitment to family.

Ruea's early years were spent in the warm embrace of her family in Kansas. At a ceremony in Worden, Illinois, she married Eugene A. Williams on June 26, 1949 and he also passed before her. She was a sister to John, Margaret, and Marilyn, all of whom preceded her in death. She also will be welcomed by several children who passed before her, Gary Williams, Susan Smith, and twins Eugene and Margaret Williams. Ruea's loving legacy continues through her son, Stanley Williams of Coloma; daughters, Debra (John) Harris of Sodus, Linda (David) Simmons of Coloma, Ruea Williams McGee of LaGrange, Indiana, and Gina (Michael) Santos of Alabama. She was the proud matriarch of a lineage that includes a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

A homemaker for the majority of her life, Ruea's dedication to her family was unwavering. In times of need, she demonstrated her resilience and work ethic by taking on employment that ensured her family's well-being. Her strength was quiet but formidable, supporting her family through every challenge and triumph.

Ruea's nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family. She was the heart of her extended family, always ready to lend a hand, provide support, or offer a place of refuge. She never turned anyone away, embodying the true essence of familial love and generosity.

Her interests were a reflection of her loving nature. Ruea's home was often filled with the aroma of her famous No-bake and applesauce cookies, a treat eagerly anticipated by all who knew her. She was also an avid canner, preserving the bounty of each season with the same care she devoted to her family. In moments of quiet companionship, she cherished the time spent with her beloved dog, Danielle, who passed prior.

Those fortunate enough to have known Ruea will remember her as the embodiment of love, kindness, and gentleness. Her presence was a comforting constant, and her influence will be felt for generations to come. She was a woman who spoke through her actions, teaching by example the virtues of patience, compassion, and unconditional love.
