Roy T. Anderson, Sr.

Roy T. Anderson, Sr., 89, of Niles, died early Monday, February 8, 2021.

He was born in Helena, Arkansas, on September 16, 1931. He grew up in Arkansas and also spent some of his early years in Missouri. He came to Michigan in 1947 and spent the rest of his life in Michigan on his same property where he passed away. He met his wife, Florence Harp (now deceased), in the early 1950s, and they had one son, Roy C. Anderson, Jr.

Roy Sr. worked at National Motors (a car/auto factory) for quite a few years, and at Berrien General Hospital as a janitor. He also spent many years working on the various fruit farms in Berrien County. He was a hard, dedicated worker who always found joy in working.

He had such a tender, caring, compassionate heart, and loved to give help to anyone who needed it. Every day with him was filled with joy and laughter, and he was always so fun to be around. He loved being around babies and small children and seeing them smile – they always brought joy to his heart.

But no children made him happier or brought him more joy than his two grandchildren; he was always so close to them and loved to be a part of their lives. He was also blessed with more joy to see his great-grandson and be a part of his life also. He was so loved by all of us, and he will be greatly missed.

Besides other friends and family members, Roy is survived by his son, Roy C. Anderson, Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Susan Anderson; his grandson, Keith Anderson; his grandson-in-law, Spencer Dodd; his granddaughter, Angela Dodd; and his great-grandson, Lincoln Dodd.

A memorial service for Roy T. Anderson, Sr., will be held in the spring, and the date will be given at a later time.
