Matilde Hernandez

Matilde Hernandez, 87, of Benton Harbor, died Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, at Bright Star Tabernacle in Eau Claire, where friends may visit from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Pastor Mike Fields will officiate. Burial will be at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire is serving the family, and messages and memories may be left online at www.bowermanfuneral.com.

Matilde was born March 14, 1931, in McAllen, Texas, the daughter of Juan and Guadalupe Mancha. She married Gonzalo Hernandez, and she dedicated her life to caring for their family.

She is survived by her children: Lupe Perales, Elodia Maria Hernandez, Gonzalo Mancha, Reynald Hernandez, Chavela Maria Lopez, Rosa Espinosa, Edwardo Hernandez, Jerardo Hernandez, and Jose F. Hernandez; three brothers: Juan Mancha, Guadalupe Castillo, and Jose Castillo; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Matilde was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gonzalo Hernandez; and one son, Ricardo Hernandez.
