Flora N. Hauch

Flora N. Hauch, 101, of Benton Harbor, died Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Ferny’s Home in Niles.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Robert Duehlmeyer of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sodus will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Sodus. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Flora was born April 22, 1921, in Bridgman, the daughter of Michael and Natalie (Meier) Pechtel. She married Fred Hauch in Kentucky on March 7, 1942. In addition to caring for her family, Flora worked in food preparation for Lakeshore Public Schools, and for 10 years at Berrien Hills Country Club in the bakery. She was a member of St. Joseph Kickers Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Wood; daughter-in-law, Patricia Hauch; sister-in-law, Donna Pechtel; three grandchildren: Elizabeth (Martin) Edmunds, Kelly (John) Burcroff, Brian (Laura) Hauch; two great-grandchildren, Abraham and Hannah Burcroff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Ronald and Dennis Hauch; two brothers, Donald and Gerald Pechtel; and four sisters: Alwina Strunk, Ethel Wheeler, Donna Merrill, and Adelina Hauch.
