Charles Monroe Ball, 84, of South Bend, formerly of Berrien Center, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon Friday, April 13, at Bowerman Funeral Home, Eau Claire, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sodus. Charles was born Dec. 24, 1933, in McHenry, Kentucky, to Isaac Monroe and Sudie Helen (Renfrow) Ball. He worked as a welder and also was a truck driver, having done local delivery as well as over-the-road hauling during his career.
He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Jane “Teeny”/”Tina” (Comer) Ball in 2008; his parents; and siblings: Franklin Andrew and twins, Alberta Mae and Lawrence Ray.
Survivors include four sons: James Franklin (Young) Ball of Ft. Worth, Texas, Curtis Leon (Pam) Ball of South Bend, Harold Wayne (Carolyn) Ball of Niles, John David (Lisa) Ball of Edwardsburg; daughter, Cynthia Jean Smith of Mishawaka; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers: James (Peggy) Ball of St. Joseph, Isaac “Jack” (Laura) Ball of Coloma, Thomas (Alma) Ball of Lindside, West Virginia, Richard (Linda) Sliger of Tehachapi, California; sisters: Eve Jean Hobbs of Bald Knob, Arkansas, Nancy Ruth Elliott of Sodus, Betty Sue Boyd of Edwardsburg, and half sister, Ruth Virginia Daniels of Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
