Bessie F. Bookwalter

Bessie F. Bookwalter, 103, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at The Willows in St. Joseph.

Bessie was born December 16, 1913, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Liska) Krivanek. On February 20, 1937, she married the love of her life, Eames H. Bookwalter. They raised their family in Sister Lakes.

Surviving are her children: Cynthia Neumann of St. Joseph, George (Teresa) Bookwalter of Daviston, Alabama, and Richard (Nancy) Bookwalter of Benton Harbor; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eames; sisters, Anna Klemm and Bernice Burrows; grandson, Joshua Bookwalter; and son-in-law, William Neumann.

Per her wishes, she has been cremated. The family will have a service in the spring.

The children of Bessie would like to thank the staff at The Willows and PACE of Southwest Michigan for all of the loving care given to their mother.

Bessie will be missed by her family and anyone who knew her for her kind and loving ways.
