Barbara Anne Wagner, 77, went to be with her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ on June 1, 2022 at her home in Niles.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, at Bowerman Funeral Home, Eau Claire, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Berrien Center. Memorials may be given to the Greater Niles Senior Center. www.bowermanfuneral.com.
Following the graveside service, a potluck meal will be held at the home of Donald and Laura Thomas, 74828 68th St., Watervliet.
She was born Aug. 21, 1944, to Harry Alfred Wagner Sr. and Florence Hannah Clay at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor. Family and friends affectionately called her “Barbie”. She told everyone her middle name was Anne with an “e”.
Barbie attended Eau Claire High School, graduating in the Class of 1964. She was a babysitter…well, sort of…she would take her baby sister Maxine with her to visit someone in the neighborhood all the time. She did not like staying home.
Her working career started at Silver Mills, later Rudy Manufacturing and Berrien Tool & Die. She later became a caregiver, but working was stopped early because of health problems. Barbie had many hobbies (too many to mention), but if someone did something or collected something, that was her hobby, too.
Barbie’s survivors include sisters: Fran (Gene Sapp) Enders, Jeanmary (Robert) May, Harriet (Joe Mesvaros) Owens, Carol (James) Stelter, Maxine Wagner; brother, Harry Alfred Wagner Jr.; sister-in-law, Penny Wagner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Seth Wagner; sisters, Virginia Richards and Margaret Koenig; nieces: Hannah Marston, Karen Forrester, Mary Butterfield, Kathy Gulliver, Megan Paul; and nephew, Stephen Richards.
