Samantha Marie Blankenship Thursday, October 9, 1997 - Thursday, May 25, 2017

Samantha Marie Blankenship, 19, of St. Joseph, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 25, 2017, at home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Bowerman Funeral Home, Eau Claire, with burial following in Caldwell Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the funeral home, and online messages may be left at Memorial donations may be made to the Berrien County Animal Control Shelter.

Samantha was born October 9, 1997, in Berrien Center. She graduated with honors in the Class of 2016 from Lakeshore High School. She had her own retail farm-fresh egg business, “Samantha’s Eggs”. She enjoyed photography, especially taking photos of waterfalls. She loved animals of all types, riding dirt bikes, and hiking.

Survivors include her parents, Robert and Susan Lausch of St. Joseph; grandparents, Doug and Sally Dupuie, Don and Sally Blankenship, and Roberta Luttke; godparents, Steve and Holly Magin; two brothers, Justin and Kyle Blankenship; two stepbrothers, Issac and Isaiah Lausch; nephews, Thomas and Logan Blankenship; and many aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel “Hoss” Blankenship on April 5, 2008; her grandmother, Debra Dupuie; and her great-grandparents, Robert and Juanita Tanke.

Sue, I am so sorry to hear about Samantha. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. May your beautiful memories sustain and bring comfort to you during this difficult time and the days ahead.

Susan my prayers are with you and your family during this time. 

We are saddened to hear the news of Sam's demise. Sam, you always had a beautiful smile on your face and were such a sweetheart. You are with the Angels now shining above us. I pray for comfort for All of your family. RIP Dear one.

Aunt Elle and I are so sorry to hear about Samantha.  Words alone cannot express our sorrow.

Please know that we will be thinking of you and praying that God will bring comfort.

We will not be able to attend services for health reasons, but will be down to see you guys when the situation permits.

My condolences Susan. I lost a son, 28 years of age and I understand your loss.

Sam,  I still can't believe your gone, it seems like a bad nightmare. We will always hold you dear to our hearts and will miss you more than any words can describe. R.I.P. little one, your with your daddy now. 

Sam, my heart is broken over this! You have always been such a special girl! Your smile always lite up any room you walked into. Thank you for being Chases best friend all through elementary and the beginning of middle school! I loved all the time you spent at our house and even seeing you a few months ago you greeted me with a hug! I am praying for comfort for you family! 

I'm beside myself hearing of your death. You were beautiful, smart, talented, and had so much future ahead of you. I knew you were troubled, and I tried to help you. I failed, staying out of what I felt was none of my business. I wish you could've seen what a truly remarkable young woman you were. My heart breaks for your mother. Rest in peace. I hope you are with your father, at peace, and finally as happy as your beautiful smile would've led people to believe you were. Your loss is a tragedy all that knew you will feel.

To a truly beautiful young woman, may you rest peacefully.  May your light always shine upon all the many lives you've touched.  Thank you for being an awesome friend to my Nate.  All of my prayers, love, and hopes of healing to Sam's family and friends.  

So sorry to hear this! I will being praying for all of her friends and family. May God comfort you in this time of great sorrow.

Sam, my dear, were one of a kind. I will never forget your smile, your laugh, or your ability to be so outspoken. My heart goes out to your family during this time, and I hope that they can find the strength that they need. You will be missed, you were greatly loved, and your memory will never be forgotten. 

You were the brightest light of all of our lives Samantha. Your absence from this world is truly a devastating loss. I loved you more than you could have ever known. From the day you were born you held a place in my heart that no one will ever fill. Rest peacefully my beautiful girl, I'll see you again one day.
