Jim Allred recently received an award for 40 years of service as a licensed funeral director in the state of Michigan. He was among those recognized on May 7 at an Honors Reception, which was hosted by the Michigan Funeral Directors Association at their 135th annual convention held at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo.

Jim graduated from Wayne State University’s Mortuary Science program in 1974. He has owned Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs since June 1976, and Bowerman Funeral Home in Eau Claire since January 1987.

Bowerman Funeral Home is family-owned and dedicated to serving the families of Eau Claire, Michigan, as well as the surrounding communities in Michigan’s great southwest. Although small, Eau Claire is in the heart of a vast farming community known for some of Michigan’s finest fruits and vegetables. The town is also recognized as the National Cherry Pit Spit Capitol, with the competition held annually on the Fourth of July at the Herb Teichman farm.
